Your action is needed

This is our first use of the Association Development Group to help us get timely information to our membership.  The two attachments are announcements from the New York State Education Department that provide opportunities for NYSABA members to become vocal and active in current developments.  Your expertise is needed, and it is a tremendous opportunity to have a real effect on new policies and how they are implemented.

Comments due August 28

The first attachment is an announcement that provides an opportunity for public comment on the proposed amendments to the Rules of the Board of Regents and the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education relating to behavioral interventions.  Three public hearings are being held around the state during the month of August. This announcement also provides information for those who would like to make written comments about these regulations.  Written comments will be accepted until August 28, 2006.  We encourage you to participate!

Professional opportunity

The second attachment is an announcement of a PER DIEM CONSULTANT OPPORTUNITY for Behavioral Psychologists to serve as members of Child-Specific State Panels on Behavioral Interventions.  Many members of NYSABA are among the most qualified to perform this function effectively.

Member involvement matters

Members of the NYSABA Legislative Committee have been very involved in the early development stages of these activities.  They provide a golden opportunity for NYSABA to step up, make a contribution, and be noticed.
